Artistic itineraries between the Black Sea and Mediterranean.
Visual dialogue: ancient and medieval heritage versus contemporary creation
The project “Artistic Itineraries between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean. Visual Dialogue: Ancient and Medieval Heritage versus Contemporary Creation” is an intensive experience exchange, with a virtual and a physical component (5 days), initiated by the Faculty of Arts of the “Ovidius” University of Constanța, dedicated to students specializing in Visual Arts from Turkey, Bulgary, Greece and Romania. Given the common historical and cultural heritage, influenced by ancient and Byzantine civilizations, the project aims to use art as a universal language to explore and celebrate the cultural diversity of the Black Sea region.
The project is structured as a blended learning experience, starting with a preliminary virtual component aimed at familiarizing students with the cultural and historical context of Dobrogea and preparing the theoretical ground for artistic documentation. This intensive preparation culminates in a 5-day physical mobility at the “Ovidius” University of Constanța, where participants will dedicate themselves to fieldwork (in situ) and creative synthesis in the workshops of the Faculty of Arts. The process continues with a post-mobility virtual phase, essential for finalizing aspects related to the interpretation of the activities carried out in the physical component and formulating the artistic and methodological conclusions of the exchange. At the end of this intensive and integrated program, which combines historical exploration, visual documentation and artistic synthesis, all participating students will benefit from the academic recognition of 3 ECTS credits.
The project aims to:
Exploring heritage in situ: Providing a direct experience of studying and artistically documenting historical and cultural reference sites in Dobrogea, including Roman remains, medieval fortresses and multicultural places of worship.
Developing observational skills: Improving rapid in situ working techniques (sketches, sketches, color studies) using pencil, charcoal and watercolor, emphasizing capturing the essence of the place, light and atmosphere.
Creative synthesis in the workshop: Translating sketches and field observations into complex and mature compositions, made in the workshops of the Faculty of Arts, encouraging students to integrate heritage elements into their contemporary artistic vision.
Promoting intercultural dialogue: Creating a collaborative working framework that facilitates the exchange of ideas, techniques and cultural perspectives between students from the three countries, strengthening international academic relations.
The intensive program is centered on the relationship between heritage, observation, and artistic transposition.
