Biography
Xenofon Bitsikas (1963) lives and works in Greece and is Professor at
the Department of Fine Arts and Art Sciences , University of Ioannina. He
studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts and at the School of Fine Arts,
University Complutense of Madrid. His Ph.D. (U.C.Madrid) concerning the
structure of the space and the mechanisms that define it, seen through the
possibilities of the dynamic synthesis between black and white. During his
studies he has been granted with scholarships from the Greek State Foundation
for Scholarships, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain and the European
Union. His work was awarded and has been exhibited in Greece and Europe.
Lately, he has been working on the concept of the limit and its relation to the
spectator, considering the artwork as

two-way transitorial space, redefined by both artist and spectator. His field of
research and academic curriculum is centered at questions of
systems-mechanisms-tools used for structuring space with a specific side
interest on matters of new media.
